Published on 13/11/2008

Information and Communications Minister Samuel Poghisio has called for cyber crime to be fought.

Speaking at the High Level Segment IT conference in Geneva, Switzerland, the minister said: “Threats from cyber crime are real and the world should move fast so that information can flow without any danger.”

The minister said the more than four billion people connected to ICT networks should be protected from organised groups out to make money through crime on the Internet.

He said the Government was developing a legal and regulatory framework on privacy, e-security, cyber crime and ethical and moral issues on the Internet. The conference opened yesterday.
