Why Bobi donated his Escalade

Bobi Wine, the Ghetto President has donated his princely new Cadillac Escalade for auction to assist Owino traders who lost their goods in a massive inferno last week.

“I am the Ghetto President. I grew up in the Ghetto and all my fortune comes from this market. Owino is my village and I feel the pain of these traders,” he told Pulse through a telephone interview on Wednesday. “When you offer to help the poor, you should give your best and that is why I have offered my best car,” he added.

Bobi’s gesture comes just after fellow musician and nemesis Jose Chameleone offered USh500,000 shillings (about KSh20,000) to the traders. It is barely two weeks since Chameleone imported a Cadillac Escalade saying that he owed Bobi Wine for inspiring him.

“I am also giving my weekly savings of Sh10 million (about Sh400,000) to the traders every week until they get back to their feet,” he told Pulse.

This is not the first spectacular gesture he is making. Two years ago, Bobi said he was ready to go to the bush (Northern Uganda) where the Kony’s LRA army was and convince Kony to stop the war, which had claimed thousands on lives.

Nyota to sell new album to Dubai tycoon

Mombasa-based songstress Nyota Ndogo is negotiating a recording deal with a Dubai tycoon who is also buying her yet to be released Mama wa Kambo album. The two started the negotiations last week after the tycoon attended the singer’s concert in Dubai last weekend.

“We are almost concluding the deal. He will have sole rights over the new album. We are also signing a recording deal and if that happens, he will be in charge of my shows,” she told Pulse.

The Mama wa Kambo album has 12 new tracks most of which have been recorded in a Mombasa studio.
