A 21-year old man was charged in a Mombasa court with stealing a Bible from a church.

Boniface Moindi denied the charge before Principal Magistrate Richard Kirui and was released on a surety of Sh20,000.

He was charged that on May 17, at Likoni Consolata Church, he stole the Bible, which belonged to the church.

Hearing of the case was set for July 15. In another court, a Burundian national has been ordered to pay Sh30,000 fine after pleading guilty to slapping a patron as they drunk in a bar.

Assault case

Allail Didia who admitted assaulting Claus Michael Walter, will be jailed for six months if he doesn’t pay the fine.

He committed the offence on May 18, at the Pavilion Garden Bar in Bamburi.

The court heard that the accused found the complainant drinking beer in the company of a female friend and went to join them. He sat in between the two and interrupted their discussions, as he begun to abuse the complainant.

The court was told the accused later went to the washrooms and when he returned, slapped the complainant on his right cheek after which police intervened and arrested the suspect.
