AJ Auxerre striker Dennis Oliech has been invited to come for the November 14 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Stars left for Cairo Egypt Sunday afternoon to face Kuwait in a friendly.

Authoritative sources told FerverPitch that a letter has already been dispatched to Auxerre and he is expected on November 7.

Also set for a come back to the team is Mathare United defender Edgar Ochieng.

The sources said that Football Kenya has de cided to call the two and especially Oliech owing to pressure from fans and the media.

Said the source: "This country is bigger than an individual and we need all our best players for the Nigeria game. We cannot allow our differences to divide us now and we have to be at our best."

Asked whether, this decision will not upset coach Antoine Hey, the source a top FKL official quipped: "Hey is our employee. He is a foreigner and will leave whether we win or loose. Let us assemble our best team so that if we win or loose we are convinced that we gave it our best shot."

The source further added that Oliech’s and Ochieng’s presence will be made public on Thursday when the team arrives back from Egypt where they are scheduled to play Kuwait.

Contacted FKL Secretary General Thabit Mohammed could not deny or confirm whether a letter has been sent to Oliech but significantly admitted that they are seriously considering views of fans and the media.

"Kenyans want him back in the team and we cannot totally ignore their calls. For now this is all I can tell you because the team is preparing to travel to Egypt,"

"We also appreciate the fact that the coach has the final say on who plays in the team."

Oliech’s skill

Hey, however, would not return our calls to say whether he was consulted over Oliech’s call up. Players who talked to FeverPitch said Hey rates the Auxerre player highly but he cannot put up with Oliech’s lack of commitment and guts to fight for the team.

"He told us in Tunisia that Oliech is a technically gifted player, has pace and the skill every coach would want but he lacks the heart and that extra determination," a senior player told FeverPitch on condition of anonymity.

Apparently there have been quiet efforts to bring back Oliech though Hey has remained adamant that he does not need the player.

Two weeks ago a top FKL official pointedly told the coach to include Oliech in the team during a meeting with the team’s technical bench.

During the meeting both Hey, his assistant Twahir Muhiddin and team doctor Wycliffe Makanga insisted they do not need the player in Stars.

It was only team manager Edward Oduor who supported the inclusion of Oliech in the team according to sources who were at the meeting.

There have been frantic calls to have Oliech included in the team one month after he was dropped for a World Cup qualifier against Tunisia.

The France-based striker fell out with Hey during this campaign where he has scored only one goal in four matches.
