The Registrar of Political Parties has declared Kitutu-Chache MP Richard Onyonka has no party.

Yesterday, Registrar Lucy Ndung’u said according to records, Mr Onyonka was not a member of the People’s Democratic Party, whose ticket he won elections.

"Richard Momoima Onyonka’s name does not appear in my register either as a member or an official of People’s Democratic Party," the registrar said in a letter to party secretary general.

Onyonka is also an Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The registrar has put her office on the spot as to how Onyonka was cleared to run for a parliamentary seat on a political party he was not a member.

Yesterday, the Assistant Minister could not be reached as he was said to be inspecting CDF projects in his constituency.

The Registrar’s letter, dated November 2, is also copied to the chairman of the Interim Independent Electoral Commission Ahmed Issack Hassan and National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende.
