Anti-poverty campaigners have called on African artistes, governments and policy makers to act immediately and end poverty, hunger and injustice in the continent.

And in response, more than 30 musicians from over ten African countries will release an album to preach against Africans’ sufferings in an event to be held on Saturday at the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi.

Some of the musicians and producers have donated songs in a variety of languages and volunteered to become ambassadors of the Global Campaign to End Hunger.

The concert will serve as part of global anti-poverty activities on the on the International Day for the eradication of poverty.

The concert has been organised by ActionAid International, Acord, Global Call to Action Against Poverty and UN Millennium Campaign.

Oliver Mtukudzi of Zimbabwe, Didi Awadi and Carlou D of Senegal, Tanzania’s Prof Jay, Ntsiki Mazwai of South Africa, Kidum of Burundi and Kenya’s Suzanne Owiyo, Wahu, Nameless and Neema among others will take part in the event
