| Kenyans could go to the polls as
early as next year, renowned Kenyan astrologer Mahendra Sharma has predicted. And should the snap elections be held, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta of Kanu and
Mr Kalonzo Musyoka of LDP are the men to watch, according to the man who predicted the end
of Kanus rule and death of Vice-President Michael Wamalwa.
Sharma also predicts that the next election will see the
return of the coalition government, which President Kibaki replaced with the government of
national unity two months ago.
The next government would have a Prime Minister, who he
said would be influential although he cannot identify the persons name.
The astrologer says the next election, which will follow
the completion of the new constitution, shall cleanse the country from the
streak of misfortunes that has dogged the Narc government.
"This will be the end of the bad phase that started
when the Narc government was sworn in on the wrong date, against my advice. There will be
peace, stability and prosperity," he predicted.
The astrologer said that the Kibaki presidency will be
dogged by terminal crises in Narc and he should regard the completion of the
people-driven constitution as his lifeline.
Mahendra issued his latest startling prediction before
departing for America, where he is scheduled to take part in a radio talk show on one of
the most listened to stations Coast to Coast.
Sharma said he had also been invited to appear in the
world-syndicated Oprah Winfrey Show.
Although some of Mahendras predictions have come
true, some have been wide off the mark. These include the discovery of the Aids cure and
the capture of Osama bin Laden.
He had also predicted that most-wanted Rwandese fugitive
Felicien Kabuga would be captured dead in a West African country.
Prophetess
His latest prediction on Narc comes in the wake of claims
by leading Kenyan Christian prophetess Josephine Nyaboke that the current government of
national unity formed by President Kibaki on June 30 would not last.
Nyaboke had asked Kenyans to pray for Kibaki because the
country was headed for difficult political times.
In her vision, the recently formed government of national
unity was like a clay pot full of cracks.
Sharma said his political predictions on Kenya were based
on the study of the countrys astrological charts and not driven by selfish
considerations.
"This is what I see and I have communicated it to my
friends in the Cabinet, in the Intelligence and even in the business community," he
said.
He asked Kenyans to brace for the elections within the next
ten months and a new government with or without President Kibaki that would be
formed around July next year.
Under the current constitution, a snap election can only be
held when the office of the president falls vacant owing to death or resignation of the
occupant.
The President has the constitutional powers to dissolve
Parliament at will and order for fresh election but Parliament stands dissolved within a
specified period if he fails to resign, following a vote of no confidence.
Circumstances
Other circumstances that may lead to a snap election
include the mass resignation of MPs and failure by Parliament to pass the annual financial
expenditure known as the Budget. Parliament has, however, set in motion a legal mechanism
seeking to give it autonomy to determine its own calendar.
There are also pending court cases on the new government of
national unity. Subukia MP Koigi Wamwere and the Liberal Democratic party have separately
gone to court seeking to reverse the appointments.
Sharma told the Sunday Standard his study of the
astrological chart indicated that the current Parliament was faced with a terminal crisis.
"I dont see this Parliament going on past July
next year," he said wryly.
The seer said Kanus Kenyatta, whom Kenyans rejected
in the last polls, has a chance of becoming the next President. Former Foreign Affairs
minister Kalonzo Musyoka (now in Environment) who has been rated top in opinion polls but
dropped in the latest one published last month.
"Their stars are on the rise and as things stands now,
it can go either way: Kalonzo or Kenyatta." |
